Sainsbury’s planning application
Sainsbury’s have now made their planning application, in advance of the associated housing planning applications. You can view the full Sainsbury’s planning application at this link http://goo.gl/GBlyF where you can post a comment. The important points are the scale of the planned store and the traffic implications. The store will be 30,000 square feet in size. This is more than twice the size of Tesco in Hook. The store is not intended to serve just Hook. In fact Sainsbury’s expect the vast majority of customers to be from outside of Hook. It is therefore a regional store rather than a local store. The traffic being brought into Hook by this size of store is large, with no knock-on benefit – most customers will of course simply visit the store and then drive home. But Hook residents will suffer the consequences of the increased traffic.
