As promised in our e-mail of 16th January, we have further details of the Owens Farm planning application (ref: 25/02564/OUT) and topics to consider for your own objections.
Where is it?
The size and landscape effect of this significant development on the road between Hook and Newnham will affect everybody in Hook and neighbouring villages
What is it?
415 houses/flats – which would be a proposed 10% increase in the size of Hook, following the previous 15% increase from the North-East Hook development next to Sainsbury’s just a few years ago.
The proposed location of this development is so far from every amenity and facility in Hook that cars will be the default travel option. Walking and cycling to the village would be dangerous due to the narrow roads.
The proposed access is also dangerous, with just a single road in and out onto a T-junction with Newnham Road which is a narrow country lane where two cars can barely pass. The width of the road here is extremely narrow and can’t be extended due to the railway embankment. Compare that to the planned internal residential estate road which is 6.5 metres wide!
Urgent Action
Everyone needs to object NOW – we have less than 2 weeks to make comments. Posting your concerns on Facebook will not have any effect, you must object to the planning application either via the planning portal or by email/letter. If you’ve not done this before – we’ve included instructions below.
Anyone can object, not just residents of Hook. Everyone in a household can and should object individually. The Planning reference you are objecting on is 25/02564/OUT
You should have all you need in this email – but also look out for leaflets being delivered to your house. The leaflet will act as another reminder that Hook needs your help & you can pass it to others if you want to share details and encourage them to object. (note these leaflets were printed prior to the dated extension)
You can view all of the documents submitted by the developer here. Be warned, there are over 100 documents! However, one of the key documents is “OWENS FARM PLANNING STATEMENT” – which is located right at the bottom of the list of documents. In particular Sections 4 & 5 which describe the scheme and on a topic by topic basis describe the scheme’s “advantages”.
PLEASE object to Hart DC by February 12th
And if this gets approved, Hop Garden field will certainly be next!
