Griffin Way North– B3349 Speed Limit

Last October we advised that Hampshire County Council has issued a Traffic Order proposing to extend the current 30mph speed limit on Griffin Way North by 16m as shown below:

87 objections were submitted including ones from Hook Parish Councillor Paul Kinge, Hart District Councillor Dermot Smith and Rotherwick Parish Council. Hampshire County Councillor Jonathan Glen supported the proposal but commented that he would prefer a longer extension of the 30 mph limit as reflected in resident’s objections.

Hampshire County Council has decided to proceed with the scheme because of “conditions imposed through the Planning process that requires the 30mph speed limit to be extended for a short distance northwards to accommodate the access to the new Sainsbury store”

However, we are pleased to advise that the objections have not been ignored. The Traffic Order Decision Record also states:

“To respond to local representations, it is proposed to undertake a review of the 40mph and 50mph limits on Griffin Way North, to assess whether further speed limit reductions are appropriate.”

We would like to sincerely thank all the people who objected.

We hope that with the support identified earlier for an extended 30 mph limit from Hook and Rotherwick Parish, Hart District and Hampshire County Councillors that Hampshire County Council will quickly progress the review. We will keep you informed of future developments.
